I start from the suppostion that the world is topsy-turvy
저는 세상이 거꾸로 돼있다는 가정하에서 시작합니다.
that things are all wrong,
모든 것이 잘못돼있고,
that the wrong people are in jail
잘못된 사람들이 감옥에 있고,
and the wrong people are out of jail,
잘못된 사람들이 감옥밖에 있고
and the wrong people are in power
잘못된 사람들이 권력에 있고,
and the wrong people are out of power
잘못된 사람들이 권력밖에 있고,
that the wealth is distributed in this country and the world in such a way
이 나라와 세계의 부가 그렇게 분배되고,
as not simply to require small reform
그래서 작은 개혁이 필요한 정도가 아니라
but to require a drastic reallocation of wealth.
강력한 부의 재분배가 필요한 정도가 되었다는 가정입니다.
I start from the supposition that we don't have to say too much about tis because
저는 이 점에 대해 우리가 많은 말이 필요없다는 가정하에서 시작합니다.
all we have to is think about the state of the world today

and realize that things are all upside down.

Now if you don't think,

you are saying our problem is civil disobedience

That is not our problem...

Our problem is civil obedience.
우리 문제는 시민 복종입니다.
Our problem is the numbers of people all over the world
우리 문제는 전세계에서,
who have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government
그들 정부 지도자들의 독재에 복종했던 사람들의 수와
and have gone to war,
전쟁하러 갔던 사람들의 수가 문제입니다.
and millions have been killed because of this obedience.
그리고 수 백만이 이 복종으로 죽음을 당했습니다.
We recognize this for Nazi Germany.
우리는 이 점을 독일 나치에서 인식하게 됩니다.
We know that the problem there was obedience
우리는 그곳의 문제가 복종이었음을 알고 있습니다.
that the people obeyed Hitler.
히틀러에게 복종했던 사람들입니다.
People obeyed, that was wrong.

They should have challenged, and they should have resisted,

The rule of law

has regularized and maximized the injustice that existed before the rule of law,

that is what the rule of law has done.

When in alll the nations of the world--
전세계의 국가들이
the rule of law is the darling of the leaders and the plague of the people,

we ought to begin to recognize this.

We have to transcend these national boundaries' in our thinking.

What we are trying to do, I assume,

is really to get back to the principles and aims

and spirit of the Declaration of Independence.

This spirit is resistance to illegitimate authority

and therefore under these conditions,

it urges the right to alter or abolish their current form of government

But to establish the principles of the Declaration of Independence,

to stop obeying the laws that demand killing

or that allocate wealth the way it's been done,

or that put people in jail for petty technical offenses
또는 사소한 기술적 범죄때문에 감옥에 사람들을 가두는 법에 대한 복종을 멈추는 것이고
and keep other people out of jail for enormous crimes.
커다란 범죄에도 감옥에 가두지 않게 하는 법에 대한 복종을 멈추는 것입니다.


My hope

is that this kind of spirit will take place not just in this coutry
이러한 유형의 정신이 이 나라에서만 일어나는 것이 아니고,
but in other countries because they all need it.

People in all countries need the spirit of disobedience to the state,
전세계의 사람들은 국가에 대한 불복종의 정신이 필요합니다.
which is not a metaphysical thing
그것은 추상적인 것이 아니며
but a thing of force and wealth.

And we need a kind of declaration of interdependence'

among people in all countries of the world who are striving for the same thing.
